Making Lasting Change

Posted by Warren Henningsen On March - 6 - 2010

Many of my clients explain to me that taking the first step in a new direction, whether it be in overall life, business, relationships, spiritually or otherwise is not a difficult task.  What many of them explain is that it is maintaining their decision and ‘sticking’ to that they struggle with.

Lasting change is only achieved by one or both of two means.  In other words, I have come to learn that there are only two ways to make lasting change in our lives.

1/ Sudden Massive Emotional Impact (S.M.E.I) and

2/ Constant Repetition of a New Ideal

————————————————————————————————————————————————-

S.M.E.I.

ie. Consider the events of September 11/2001.  When the two towers of the World Trade  Center in New York came down the entire planet stopped to view the apparent horrors that followed.  People were seen throwing themselves from the two buildings and the stories and events that followed told tales of phone calls of love and loss made from the aircrafts involved through to the entire gamut of explanations of how the series of events leading up to end result occurred.

The Sudden Massive Emotional Impact experienced by so many the world over was phenomenal to say the least.  There are now thousands, if not millions of people all over the world that will never get on an aircraft again, or will never work in a high rise building again, or will never trust people of certain heritage or religion again.

At the very least, there are many, many people that have made a lasting change in their lives based on this Sudden Massive Emotional Impact.

Constant Repetition of a New Ideal

This tends to be a much less painful means of making lasting change in any area of our lives.

Firstly, I would like to make it clear that when I refer to a new ideal I am meaning a new IDEA that you have fallen in Love with.

Think, for example back to a time when you had fallen in love with someone.  Was it necessary for you to set time aside in a day to think about that person?  Probably not.  It is more likely that you would have had to have struggled to set aside time to not think about them whilst you were trying to do anything else.  This is an incredible means of immersion that ensures that energy is flowing toward the success of the relationship.  By falling in love with any new way of being, thinking or growing, in the same way you dedicate to that new state in exactly the same way that new partner.

One of the easiest ways to learn any new language for example is to immerse yourself in it.  Let’s say for example you wanted to learn French.  The easiest way to do so would be to move to France.  Very quickly you will find yourself gaining an understanding of phrasing and vocabulary.  (It is amazing how quickly you pick up asking where the bathroom is!)

Success, happiness, peace, Universal Connection, whatever it is that you are looking for are merely other languages.  By immersing yourself in the language you want to learn you will find that your learning capacity increases also.

I recommend finding the people that have the required result you seek, or those that are living the kind of life that you are in search of and learning what they know.  Read the right books, listen to audio/mp3 seminars and conferences in the car, physically attend seminars/conferences and workshops, watch DVD workshops/conferences and seminars at home, gain the services of a coach or mentor that is an expert in the field that you want gain mastery over.  Do whatever you can to completely immerse yourself in the new language and commit to mastering it.

Through the Constant Repetition of the New Ideal you allow the new language to move from your conscious thought process into your subconscious.  In a way, you start thinking in the new language.

Merci Beaucoup!!

When you open net, you are bombarded with millions of article. However, unfortunately most of them are just a piece of junk. It is difficult to even read first paragraph of such articles. However, this article is not like them. It contains quality content, which can bind you to finish till the last words.
